SME Dispute Resolution, LLC is the conflict management firm of Sarah Miller Espinosa. Ms. Espinosa is an ombudsman, labor arbitrator, workplace mediator, and facilitator of interest-based processes. Ms. Espinosa serves as the impartial ombudsman for Montgomery College and associations in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. Ms. Espinosa also serves as an arbitrator on the United Federation of Teachers and New York City Department of Education 3020-a teacher performance hearing panel and is a member of the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Services arbitration panel as well as the Nuclear Regulatory Commission Early ADR Mediation Panel. Additionally, Ms. Espinosa is a 2015 American Arbitration Association Higginbotham Fellow and a member of the Board of Directors for the Association for Conflict Resolution (ACR).
Prior to becoming a neutral, Ms. Espinosa served in a variety of advocacy roles, including: vice president of human resources at Montgomery College, chief negotiator and labor relations manager at Montgomery County Government in Rockville, MD, and general counsel for locals 511 and 506 of the Service Employees International Union in Middletown, Connecticut. She also served as a full-time mediator with the State of Connecticut Board of Mediation and Arbitration and as the assistant general counsel for the Connecticut State Board of Labor Relations.
Ms. Espinosa earned a bachelor of science from the School of Industrial and Labor Relations at Cornell University and a juris doctor at the University of Connecticut School of Law.
